Our Team
Tom Buckingham, Founder & Builder
Tom founded Buckingham Resources in Bend, OR in 1990. His background includes a B.S. degree in Business Management from Oregon State University, and practical business experience leading an organization as the NW Region General Manager of a national telecommunications company. Ultimately combining his artistic eye, love of architecture and construction, and business management, Tom found his lifelong passion realized in custom home building. His unique perspective in the industry comes from having been the client. Prior to founding Buckingham Resources, Tom and his wife had two custom homes built for them.
Tom’s extensive portfolio includes building a nationally acclaimed equestrian estate in the Willamette Valley, luxury custom homes throughout Portland, Bend, Sunriver, the Oregon coast, Southwest Washington, and even several 360 degree panoramic-view penthouses in Portland.
Tom has over 30 years of complex custom home-building experience. He takes exceptional pride in working with each client, architect, designer, and expert craftsmen to provide unparalleled value, exceptional quality, sustainable solutions, and long term reliability.
Tom lives in Bend with his wife Kimberlee. Together they have two adult children. Along with their spouses, they have three handsome grandsons, and a beautiful granddaughter. Everyone has come full circle back to Central Oregon. In his downtime, you’ll likely find Tom enjoying the outdoors, fly fishing, hiking, camping, and photography.
Kirk Hamilton, Builder
Kirk Hamilton has been building custom homes throughout the Pacific Northwest and Southwest for over 25 years. He’s an Arizona native with a B.S. degree in Construction Management from Arizona State University where he spent many years building custom homes in the region’s most prestigious golf communities.
After relocating to Portland, Kirk worked for a prominent custom builder before joining Buckingham Resources. Kirk has a vast knowledge of high end construction practices, scheduling, and construction management. He receives many compliments from clients, subcontractors and suppliers as one who is the best of the best.
Kirk lives in Beaverton with his wife Tiffany and two children, Halle and Anders. He leads an active life coaching and attending his children’s soccer and baseball games.
Britt Porter, Refresh by B|R
Britt Porter leads Refresh by B|R, our rapidly expanding remodeling services and manages several key business operations. Prior to joining Buckingham Resources she had 15 years of experience in the tech industry, most recently as a Director of Partner Events at Salesforce. With extensive experience in large-scale project management, subcontractor coordination, client services, and detailed budgeting, Britt ensures every project is managed with precision and care. She oversees a variety of renovation projects, always prioritizing transparency, trust, and client's best interests.
Raised in the home-building industry, Britt developed a passion for creating functional, beautiful spaces. Having remodeled and flipped multiple homes of her own, she understands firsthand the importance of client goals, project timelines, and budgets. She enjoys working with clients to perform pre-evaluations of renovations to ensure the changes will enhance livability, functionality, and home value. Britt recognizes our trusted subcontractor relationships as the foundation of our success.
Britt holds a B.S. in Communications and Business from Oregon State University. She lives in Bend with her husband Jared and their two little ones, Brooks and Zoee. Their family has built a strong community in Central Oregon and loves soaking up everything this beautiful region has to offer.

Custom home construction and high-end home remodels. Our primary focus for the past 30+ years has been building custom homes. Due to increasing demand for home remodels with the same level of service we provide our custom home clients, we launched Refresh by B|R in 2025. We are always open to consultations so reach out, let’s chat.

Yes, this is key to our specialized approach to home building and remodels. We have a strong, trusted network of craftsman who we partner with. We build a team unique to each specific project based on each client’s goals and budget (incl. dedicated on-site supervisors / project managers as needed).

Our custom approach allows us to find the right architect for your specific custom home project or home remodel. We have a trusted network of architects, home designers, landscape architects, and interior designers who we partner with and recommend specific to each job. Of course, we are always excited to partner with an architect if you already have an existing project in the works.

We pride ourselves on our transparent pricing and providing our client’s detailed estimates with real quotes from our partners, so we do not have a specific cost per square foot because it can range vastly from project to project. We always start by determining our client’s goals for their custom home or remodel (incl. budget) and work from there to discuss if we’re the right fit and provide real estimates so there are no surprises.
